The members of Bondhu Mahal celebrated Saraswati Puja with same gaiety and religious fervor but at different place. Instead of organizing Puja at B-26, Indira Nagar Lucknow , this time Puja was celebrated at Durga Kuteer (B-1066, Indira Nagar Lucknow) – the place or the compound of the home where we celebrate our Durga Puja.

This decision was taken with a view to throw open Puja for more devotees and our decision proved right. From the early hour on February 13 – the Saraswati Puja day – people started pouring in. We had devotees from all parts of Lucknow who thronged our mandap and by noon we had a good crowd of over 300 people. The Bhog in-charge Mr SK Sen looked worried because he had made arrangement for 200 people but by God’s grace ever devotee got Prasad.

If in the noon women regaled themselves by playing housie in winter sun, the evening was reserved for another round of fun and frolic. The members had collected Rs 10 for lottery and in the evening the lottery was drawn. Based on that lottery members got prizes.

Then there were some impromptu singers whose renditions regaled the people. The evening came to a close with a dinner of puri and sabzi.

Though it was first year of Saraswati Puja at Durga Kuteer – it left a indelible mark on the minds of those who attended this.
