Sixty People Donate Blood in Highly Successful Camp
This is the fourth year in a row Bondhu Mahal is organized Blood donation camp. This year 60 volunteers donated blood 11 of which were women. This was a new achievement as we broke our record. Two years back we had collected 57 units of blood and last year the number of donors was 53. Moreover, this year we organised blood donation camp at Rajendra Singh park, B block Indira Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The team of doctors from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lucknow collected blood. Initially, we had a target to donate around 50 units but by evening 60 donors had donated blood and few more were in the queue. Arunima Tripathi, one of the para-medics requested us to close down the camp as Bondhu Mahal had already achieved the target.
Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra was the chief guest of the function. He asked people to donate blood “Everyone of us here have passed through a phase of life where he or she had needed blood for ailing relative or friend. At that time we realise the importance of blood and how timely accessibility of blood save precious lives”, Mishra said.
Founder president of Sulabh International Dr Bindeshwar Pathak in his address recounted an incident where his grand daughter fell ill and needed immediate blood transfusion. “We did not get blood. By evening her condition deteriorated. The doctors attended on her then requested a hospital staff who had similar blood group to donate blood for her .
“That donation helped the doctors to save my grand daughter’s life. She is alive today because she got a timely help from an unknown person,” Dr Pathak said.
