A Show Where Tiny Tots Ruled
There was something different in Bondhu Mahal’s Poila Baishak (Bengali New Year) celebration this year. First, we organized this function at Rajendra Singh Park in Indira Nagar, Lucknow, just opposite to B-1066 Indira Nagar in Lucknow – the house where we had organized Durga Puja last year and two, the this time tiny tots held the stage. They made the people dance to their tunes and enjoy every minute of the celebration.
The decision to shift this year’s New Year celebration from Puja Park in Bhootnath in Lucknow to Rajendra Singh Park – just few hundred meters away - seemed a wise one. There were few deliberations and finally everyone said that if Bondhu Mahal wants to make its mark in Lucknow it needs to expand.
After initial hiccups, the localities warmed up to our initiative. They came in hordes. The park seemed small as more and more people started trooping in. Every inch of the park was taken up. This is a confirmation that we are moving on a right track.
But, if the function was a success – it was only because of small kids who showcased their talent . The audience encouraged them. They clapped at every move of these kids and when they finished they were greeted by thunderous applause.
A rendition by Chonda Bhattacharya was an icing on the cake. Her soulful presentation added sheen to this function. And then – there was the sumptuous dinner of chola-er dal, kofta, sabzi, luchi (puri), pulao and rasogolla.
It was the day to remember. Thank you everyone who came all across Lucknow to be part of this celebration.
