Extending a helping hand to the poor children Bondhu Maha donated stationary among 110 students of the two schools during a function organized on April 18, 2015 at Rajendra Singh Park, in B-Block Indira Nagar, Lucknow.

Children of Government Primary School, Bastauli, Lucknow and Mamata Saraswati Balika Vidyalaya, Indira Nagar Lucknow were given stationary.

Wg Cdr (Retd) R.N Sengupta and BJP spokesman Vijay Pathak did the honours.

“Our organization felt that though government gives free books to primary students they still grapple for stationary. Though we did not have funds, members of our organization contributed from their pockets to ensure that we can give enough stationary to these children,” R G Paramanik, vice-president, Bondhu Mahal said.

The stationary includes three copies, one drawing book, a set of crayon, pencils, rubbers and eraser. A small pencil pouch is also given to these students so that they can develop a habit of keeping things safe.

Madhu Srivastava, principal Mamata Saraswati Balika Vidyalaya, Lucknow, said that students actually need stationary. Parents of some of the students are so poor that they can hardly afford copies.

On this occasion Bondhu Mahal also held a camp for registration of eye donation. Seven people pledged to donate their eyes.

Bondhu Mahal is probably only Bengali club in Lucknow, the state capital of Uttar Pradesh, which is into social service. It has organized blood donation camps in collaboration with Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh Government has twice honoured Bondhu Mahal for its selfless service.
