Bada Mangal

Chandan Das is not a glib talker. So, when he speaks everyone takes note of that. In one of our regular sojourn to Ramu tea Stall, Chandan said: “Cannot we organize bada mangal ?.”

The query was answered with a deafening silence. The reason being the Bondhu Mahal is running very low on finances. We knew organizing another function means heavy expenditure and Bondhu Mahal was in no position to bear that.

Probably Chandan could understand our predicament. He took a long sip from his tea said: “I will bear the half cost. The Bada Mangal should be organized by Bondhu Mahal in collaboration with Beat Heat Corporation.”

Chandan is proprietor of Beat Heat Corporation.

We all agreed and decided to organize Bada Mangal on 28th May – the First Tuesday of Jeth (Hindi calendar) month at Puja park in Bhootnath.

Faith overcame the scorching sun on that Tuesday, as Hanuman devotees gathered in large number to celebrate the first Bada Mangal. Thousands of men, women and children gathered at the bhandara organized by Bondhu Mahal. The devotees were served puri, sabzi and boondi as Prasad.

Sunderkand Paath, Hanuman chalisa and Ram Bhajan echoed all through the day and it added to the divice mood. Over 3000 devotees had Prasad.
