Savings from Durga Puja Help in Educating Poor Students
Bondhu Mahal, a social organisation, sponsored education of 32 poor students of the Anglo Bengali Boys Inter College as well as felicitated 10 teachers of state-run primary schools from the money it saved from Durga Puja in a function held here.
Basic education Minister Anupama Jaiswal was the chief guest.
“It is a great endeavour on the parts of Bondhu Mahal to educate poor students from the the money they saved from Durga Puja. Exposing people to education is the biggest `Puja’ which the members of this club are doing earnestly,” Jaiswal said during her address.
“The organisations like Bondhu Mahal are helping Government in spreading the light of knowledge. I appeal to all the Durga Puja committees to take a leaf out of Bondhu Mahal and utilise the money they save from Puja in such functions,” she said and added that feliciaition of teachers was also a noble cause because as Minister I know many primary teachers are paying from their pockets to provide furniture in the school. .
The basic education minister also felicitated 10 teachers of state-run schools who had excelled in their respective fields. The function was sponsored by Sudhir Sehgal.
A cultural troupe Nritya Dham presented ballets and solo dances which engrossed the audience. They stayed rivet to their seats as children presented cultural show.
