I am amazed at the tenacity shown by the senior members of Bondhu Mahal. Came Durga Puja – they were on their feet. The Puja committee was led by RG Pramanik – Gobindo da for us and then we had a dedicated team of seniors like Nandi da, Ghosh Da, Utpal Da, BM Da and Mitra Da who took the cudgel of collecting chanda (donations) door to door. Acahrya Da also chipped in from time to time.

Generating resources has always been one of the major challenges for any committee. The prophetic words of Gobindo Da – “Ho Jaayega” were always comforting that with passage of time everything will fall at place. And it actually did.

After much tension of inclement weather the Puja passed off without any trouble. Every member chipped as per his or her potential. If women wing took charge of Ma’s bhog preparation, our own Sen Da held fort at General bhog department. The kids too helped Acharya Da in making Prasad packets.

Five days passed off in a jiffy. It started and by the time we can say Bijoya Dashami – it was there.  With heavy heart we bid good bye to Ma Durga with a promise that She will come again.
