As my son is a student and I decided to perform Sarswati Puja at my home. The Bondhu Mahal decided to chip in. It was decided that Puja part, I will take care of, while the bhog would be prepared with the contribution from all members.

The suggestion had the semblance of picnic so everyone agreed. It was decided that puja will be held in the drawing room of my house and bhog will be prepared under the shade of mango trees outside my house.

On February 7 – the Saraswati Puja day – the sky was laden with dark clouds. There was apprehension about rain. The fear proved right and it did pour. The cooking was shifted under a shed in my courtyard. It was a great fun with Sen Da and Chandan – our two cooks – poking fun at each other.

The Puja passed off with religious fervor. Over 70 people had bhog. At one time we felt that we will run short of bhog but Ma Saraswati saved the day for us.
